Continental este unul din cei mai mari producatori de anvelope din lume. A luat fiinta in 1871 in orasul Hanovra din Germania. In 1979 achizitioneaza firma americana de anvelope Uniroyal, in 1985 preia firma austriaca Semperit, in1987 General Tire din SUA, in 1993 firma ceha Barum, in 2007 Matador din Slovacia. Este printre primii cinci furnizori de anvelope din industria auto din lume si nr.2 in Europa. Mai are de asemenea in portofoliu brandurile Viking, Gislaved, Mabor, Euzkadi si Sime Tyres. Produce anvelope premium pentru toate tipurile de autovehicule.
